Every font on DaFontCity downloads as a ZIP file. Installing it takes about a minute: extract the ZIP, install the font files, and restart your apps. Once installed, the font works in Word, Photoshop, Illustrator, and any other desktop app.
Install on Windows (10 and 11)
- Download the font and find the ZIP file (usually in Downloads).
- Right-click the ZIP and choose Extract All, then open the extracted folder.
- Select the font files (.ttf or .otf — ignore any .txt or image files).
- Right-click and choose Install. Choose “Install for all users” if you want it available on every account on the PC.
- Alternative: open Settings → Personalization → Fonts and drag the font files into the “Add fonts” area.
Install on Mac
- Download the font and double-click the ZIP to extract it.
- Double-click a font file (.ttf or .otf). Font Book opens a preview.
- Click Install Font at the bottom of the preview.
- Alternative: drag the font files directly into Font Book, or into the Fonts folder (Finder → Go → Go to Folder → ~/Library/Fonts).
- If Font Book reports a duplicate, choose Resolve Automatically, or skip the duplicate if the same font is already installed.
If the font doesn’t show up
- Restart the app. Most apps load their font list at startup, so a newly installed font appears only after you close and reopen the app.
- Install the font files, not the ZIP. If you installed the ZIP itself, nothing changes — extract first, then install the .ttf or .otf files inside.
- Check you installed it for the right user. On a shared PC, “Install for all users” avoids per-account surprises.
- Re-download if the ZIP won’t open — the download may have been interrupted.
Web tools and licensing
- Desktop apps use your installed fonts. Web tools like Canva have their own font libraries — uploading a custom font to Canva needs a Brand Kit (paid plan).
- Before using a font in client work or products, check its license on the font’s page (personal vs commercial use) — see our Font Licensing Explained guide.
